While many will eventually make their way to Lisbon, the interesting town of Sintra may be overlooked. This is something you should not fall victim to, as it can be conducted as a day trip from Lisbon if you are limited on time. Once there, you will be enchanted by the 19th century romantic architecture. You can choose from the Castelos dos Mouros, a castle which originates from the 8th century, the Palacio Nacional de Sintra, where the Kings of Portugal once summered, and the Sintra Cascais Natural Park with its outstanding views. The history is tremendous, the views striking, and there are even beaches that can be reached if you are unable to travel further south.
